The research carried out by the Medián Public Opinion and Market Research Institute on behalf of Robert Bosch Ltd. revealed that the proportion of people in the car reached its maximum in 2018, and 46 percent of households have cars.
According to representative research, the number of cars running on Hungarian roads has increased steadily over the past six years, reaching 3.58 million units in the first half of this year. The dynamic growth of the car fleet shows that by the end of last year's 272,000 new cars - including imported used cars - 150,000 cars were registered in the first half of this year.
46 percent of Hungarian households have cars, typically owned by motor vehicles, a company car is only in the fraction of 2-3 percent of households - the survey reveals. According to the research, the age distribution of cars has deteriorated steadily since the start of the survey series, primarily due to the 2008 crisis and the consequent decline in new car purchases. At the same time, the process has slowed down in recent years, and after the low of 2012, the boom of the new car market has become increasingly apparent since 2014.
