You can reach the next level of self-management with Tesla. At least according to Elon Musk.
Tesla is “very close” to developing self-driving vehicle technology that requires no human intervention at all, the company’s CEO, Elon Musk, said on Thursday.
On the occasion of the opening of the annual World Artificial Intelligence Conference (WAIC) in Shanghai, Elon Musk voiced in his video message his firm belief that Level 5 self-driving vehicle technology will be completed “very soon”. “The basic functions of fifth-level autonomy will be available to us as early as this year,” he declared.
With the fifth level self-driving technology, the vehicle is able to orientate, navigate and solve traffic tasks completely without human intervention. This way, there are only passengers in the vehicle, no driver is needed at all.
Experts say it will take many more years to develop market-mature technology and both to gain users' trust in self-driving vehicles.
