Tackling high-tech in the ’80s requires some leadership experience.
In the age of super-powerful Group B rally cars, Ford has decided to rival the Audi Quattro S1, Lancia Delta S4 and Peugeot 205 T16. The end result was the RS200 racing car, which was also used to make 200 250-horsepower street cars for homologation reasons.
The specimen shown in the photos below and just waiting for a new owner is an unadulterated race version with a 2.1-liter turbo engine delivering more than 700 horsepower to the four wheels.
The car, made in 1986, was made for King Hussein of Jordan, who, however, found the product too fast and wild, so it was returned to the factory. The factories finally launched the car at the 1989 European Rallycross Championship, behind the wheel of which the legendary Stig Blomqvist and Jonathan Palmer took their seats.
There is a lot to be said about the capabilities inherent in a low-weight car that it ideally takes just 2 seconds to sprint 0-100.
