An American restomod workshop offers a complete remodeling program for 1967 vintage Ford Mustangs.
Oddly enough, Shelby has never made a carbon body for the original Mustang in decades - at first because the technology wasn’t available, later on the topic was no longer relevant.
However, the Classic Recreations workshop in Oklahoma has now made up for this shortcoming: hundreds of man-hours, computer-controlled 3D printers and lathes are hand-made to create carbon fiber body sections that can be mounted around the original steel monocoque. The GT500CR is thus the world’s first official Shelby Mustang remodel with a body made of a lighter and stronger carbon composite than steel.
The GT500CR’s nose can also be fitted with a variety of engines, from the 5.0-liter, 490-horsepower Ford race block to the hand-assembled, compressed, 7.0-liter beast that can be tuned to up to 900 horsepower. The transmission is always a five-speed manual; the automatic option item. The sports suspension, wider rear wheels and six-piston brakes are available at an additional cost.
The price of the basic model with a steel body is 185 thousand dollars (about 60 million HUF), another 100 thousand dollars (32.5 and 19.5 million HUF) will be paid for the large compressor engine and another 60 thousand dollars for the carbon body. In the future, the company will also make carbon bodies for AC Cobras.
