New platform, new aesthetics, new engine in the Lotus Emirate - but if you want, you can also request the well-proven compressor V6 block instead of the modern in-line four-cylinder turbo engine.
When we already thought no more gasoline-powered Lotus would be made, Emira took the stage, not only what the factory calls the most assembled type to date, but also - although this is subjective - it got the most harmonious look.
The Emira is built on a new generation sports car platform with a wider track and a deep center of gravity to make the compact (4412 x 1895 x 1225 mm) more stable. Even if it wasn’t on the floor, it learned in many details from the purely electric Evija: such as the air intakes that interrupt the front engine cover side, the air outlets on the back wall, and actually the entire design language.
More importantly, of course, Lotus is finally introducing a brand new engine: the Emirate will be the first to receive the familiar 2.0-liter, four-cylinder turbo engine from the AMG A45. In addition, a 3.5-liter V6 supercharger from Toyota will be available - the former with dual-clutch, the latter with manual or automatic transmission. The factory does not specify the performance of the engines: all that has been said is that the engine power is 360-400 horsepower, the car with a curb weight of up to 1.4 tonnes accelerates to 100 km / h in 4.5 seconds and its top speed is 290 km / h.
Although Lotus is not bought for its practicality, the factory is very proud that the Emira offers a wider, better circular view and can even transport packages: 208 liters of cavity behind the seats and an additional 151 liters of space behind the medium engine. In addition, plenty of loading surfaces for little things, cup and bottle holders, filling sockets and a retaining net to improve packaging.
