Morgan is demonstrating the potential of its next-generation platform with a spectacular adventure vehicle. In the Plus Four CX-T project, there were Dakar specialists to help the British manufactory.
With modified suspension, reinforced bottom plate and occupant protection, the Morgan Plus Four CX-T, a converted version of the new-generation Morgan Plus Four, is an adventure.
Rally Raid UK experts, who excel in building Dakar racing cars, have also been involved in the design and construction of the special car, which is a good indication that it is not a fashion car.
Although Morgan hasn’t built a recreational vehicle yet (and hopefully it won’t), the brand isn’t far from touring racing: their products have already successfully competed in various races in 1911.
Built on the new generation CX floorboard, the Plus Four forms the basis of the Plus Four CX-T, and if you like the car, don't hesitate for long, as they only build eight pieces, each for £ 170,000 net, or just over £ 70m. That’s why, of course, the buyer doesn’t get a dozen items for the amount, Morgan’s designers completely tailor the weird car to the customer’s taste.
Morgan never placed much emphasis on transporting packages, but an exception was made for the Plus Four CX-T: the area behind the seats, for example, was filled with a combined storage panel that housed a cans, two spare wheels, and a spade and other important equipment. Waterproof suitcases and an aluminum tool box were placed there.
The car is somewhat disfigured, but it is made much safer by the externally welded frame, which protects against possible overturning, and also allows the installation of a roof rack: we can also transport a bicycle, a surfboard or a roof box with the car.
The passenger compartment has a removable map holder, a heat-insulated cooler bag and an extended first-aid kit, and a uniquely developed composite hardtop covers the passengers.
