The astonishing Aston Martin Valkyrie is now not only available as standard and AMR PRO racing versions, but can also be ordered in a Spider version deprived of the top. Built around the model’s 6.5-liter V12 petrol engine, the 1155-horsepower hybrid powertrain remained unchanged, with designers adapting to the loss of the roof plate by redesigning the carbon-fiber frame structure and retuning active aerodynamic and chassis systems. The only thing about aerodynamics is that it squeezes the car to the asphalt with 1.4 tons at a speed of 240 km / h in racetrack mode, without extreme wings disfiguring the body.
The weight of the Valkyrie Spider is said to have increased only minimally as a result of the convergence - exact data has not yet been provided by the manufacturer. However, it has been revealed that the car is capable of speeds above 350 km / h with an open roof and 330 km / h with an open passenger compartment, making it officially the fastest Aston Martin roadster ever.
Sure, it’s not designed for comfortable, sun-enjoying cruising: the driver sits deep, almost horizontally, pushed to the center, he and his passenger are seated in the seat with six straps, and the view is aided by a camera-based rearview mirror.
The roof structure also consists of a central carbon panel and a polycarbonate skylight that can be opened on two sides - these are needed for easy access with the roof installed. The roof can be easily lifted out of place after opening the doors. All of this necessitated a redesign of the carbon-fiber monocoque structure as well as the design of brand new doors: the latter tilt-and-rise forward on relocated hinges, as opposed to coupe doors that simply open upward.
