On 7 February, the 7 millionth Octavia rolled off the tape at Škoda Mladá's Boleslav plant.
From 1959 onwards, the "Ancient Octavia" has conquered generous space and advanced technology. This was the eighth independent wheel suspension Škoda, and also the Czech manufacturer's eighth model after the Second World War.
The source of Octavia's name is therefore the Latin "Octo", meaning "eight". During its twelve years of production - 1964 with stepped backs, until 1971 with a combined version - Škoda produced a total of about 400,000 units.
