Bentley began to prepare for the new European emission standards late; the company suffered huge losses.
In the first nine months of the year, Bentley generated a loss of EUR 137 million, closing last year's low profit with a modest profit last year, according to the VW Group's current financial report
According to Bentley CEO Adrian Hallmark, the serious situation was caused by falling asleep and late late homologations under the WLTP standard.
As a result of the delay, the Bentayga hybrid could only be launched in March next year because of the need to make space for some of the larger models available for sale. For the same reason, the brand could not introduce the new Continental GT coupe, which was the most sought after type in front of Bentayga.
According to Hallmark, about 3-400 pieces of Bentaygas could be sold because of the late start tests.
Hopefully, in the fourth quarter of the year, Bentley will be climbing out of the pit and is expected to be profitable next year.
