As previously reported, the British Radford body building workshop embarked on a special project: a modern replica of the Lotus Type 62 will be built. The successful racing car of the 1960s comes to life as a road sports car, and although it is based on factory Lotus techniques, it is far more radical than any product from a factory in transition.
The car’s historic design, which is just 1133mm tall, has been aerodynamically optimized with the help of Jenson Button, with roof-biting doors, muscular wheel arches, a horizontal cooler in the nose and a double rear duck tail making the car a completely unique phenomenon. The special air deflector is only available for the Gold Leaf competition version, the Classic version is sold without a clean design.
The unique titanium exhaust system has been given ceramic-coated end pipes, the rear of which, along with a serious diffuser and carbon fiber engine cover, define the image. The taillights, like the front headlights, are LEDs. to work. In its basic version, the engine has 436 horsepower, but the race version delivers 507 horsepower with modified pistons, connecting rods, camshafts and rewritten controls. This engine is also available for the street version, as is the seven-speed DCT transmission - the car comes standard with a six-speed manual transmission. The brakes are supplied by AP Racing.
Only 62 of the cars will be made, production will start this year, the first cars will be available to customers in the first quarter of 2022.
