Your cabin will be as big as Octavi, but the quality of the car may be similar, but the price of the Škoda Scala promises to be significantly lower.
For a long time, Škoda, the VW group, has done everything to ensure that its Czech subsidiary does not have a car in the lower middle class as a direct opponent of Golf. The Octavia was bigger, the Rapid Spaceback was much narrower and cheaper inside to minimize the passage.
In the spring, however, Škoda presents a 4362 mm long, 1793 mm wide, 1469 mm high car that will be a classic compact car in size and services. According to the factory product strategy and market reality, Scala, based on the MQB A0 floorboard used in small cars (eg Ibiza, Arona, Polo), is not the main opponent of Golf with a different flooring, but more like Mégane, Astra, Focus, i30 and Ceed. target customers. The interior of the car is expected to adapt to the Octavia's sense of quality, so you can escape the forced exsessment of the Rapid.
Our magazine learned from the importer of the Škoda brand that Scala may be released in May in Hungary. Preliminary sales are expected to begin in February or March, János Németh told Vezess.
The price of the car is not yet known. According to our information, the price difference for a similar engine and equipment will be about 10 percent between Scala and Octavia with five doors. The direct comparison is not easy, because the 115 HP 1.0 TSI Active in the Octavia Configurator is the lowest price car with a price of 6,374,680 forints, but Scala is launching a 95-cylinder, 175 Nm torque version of the three-cylinder turbo gasoline. Since the actual purchase prices are moved by the current campaigns and actions, we can report specific amounts at the end of the winter when the pre-sale starts.
The engine range includes the three-cylinder 1.0 TSI with 95 and 115 horsepower, the four-cylinder 1.5 TSI 150 hp. 1.6 TDI is the only diesel engine with 115 hp. The Scala is made with the 1.0 TSI gasoline fueled version, but its domestic sales are uncertain.
