Until the introduction of the fifth-generation Toyota GR Supra, it was a terrible long process - but it would be a good idea to believe that the model did not come to an end, but something started. British journalists have been questioned about the possibilities by Chief Engineer Tada Tecuja, whom after the GT86 we can thank the new Supra, and he responded willingly (or listened to it a lot).
At present, GR Supra is available with two engines (3.0 liter six-cylinder, 2.0-liter four-cylinder), depending on the market, at three power levels (197, 258, 340 hp). The Chief Engineer did not promise a stronger engine, but he suggested that a supercar lighter, up to 100 kilograms lighter could be put on the streets of the Supra racing car - which could provide the foundations for the GRMN model (“We need to improve the car balance while refining and, of course, the engine power cannot remain unchanged. ”) which Tada-san would like to make available worldwide.
Many people find it a mistake not to buy Supra with a manual switch. The technician said this was not necessary, but was not categorically obscured by the idea. “The sports car gearbox developed for GR Supra works in a completely different way than the usual customers. I think if you know, you no longer need a manual changer. At the same time, I would be delighted to hear the feedback: if you still want a manual changer after that, I hope you do not stumble upon it, the implementation is not up to us. ”
An interesting development is the redesign of the interior: most of the criticism is due to the recognizable BMW interior environment. Though no mention was made of Tada, but the fact that he was talking about this opportunity suggests that not everyone at Toyota is happy with the Bavarian interior.
