Disappeared from Corvette, BMW still maintains manual transmission.
Let's start with the worse news. The latest eighth generation of the Chevrolet Corvette has been released, which has been midsized to compete with European sports cars. However, this has brought with it a completely new gearbox developed by Chevrolet in conjunction with Tremeck and can be fitted on even the most powerful model of around 800 horsepower.
The Corvette had a prototype that still used the Porsche PDK transmission as no other was available for this performance. And the manual transmission option was discarded because of the dry crankcase engine and customers. Although the Corvette Z06 has traditionally been a manual transmission, it was also available recently with an automatic transmission and, of course, sold better.
Let's keep up with the fun news. BMW dumped the M model's dual clutch transmission because it was not usable on the M5 and M8 because of its all-wheel drive. Instead, the conventional eight-speed ZF automatic is used in these high-performance cars. The new M3 and M4 will probably be available with xDrive four-wheel drive, but will also be a purely rear-wheel model in the palette.
These slightly over 450hp versions are expected to be available in manual gearboxes, as BMW does not have a manual gearbox that can handle more than 650 Nm of torque.
