For the special sculptures of South African craftsman Nic Bladen, he samples real plants, which he then casts with bronze and silver, taking advantage of his precision and dexterity as a dental technician. And since the owner of the Ellerman House Hotel enthusiastically and competently collects contemporary South African artwork when he asked BMW to build a completely unique limousine, the idea of involving Nic Bladen in the project was obvious.
Of course, the complete sculptures did not fit in the car, but they invented something striking instead: the doors and the dashboard are decorated with gold, silver and platinum leaves, the leaves of special plants native to South Africa, so the car can be considered a botanical memento of the region.
The luxurious atmosphere is enhanced by the hotel’s monogram embellished pillows, the circular letter H on the C-pillar and the flesh-colored decorative stripe running along the waistline.
The basis for the conversion was the BMW 745Le xDrive sedan: its hybrid powertrain, based on a in-line six-cylinder petrol engine, delivers 394 hp of system power. Its electric range is 51 kilometers, which is just enough for the car to travel about 25 kilometers back and forth between the hotel and Cape Town Airport, giving guests the greatest treasure and silence.
The car received exclusive copper paint, 20-inch wheels and an M Sport package.
