The BMW Design Studio, together with a tour operator, designed a special teardrop caravan. The wall of the imaginative structure is made of canvas.
The teardrop camper has a decade-long history: in the highly motorized countries (USA, Great Britain), these light, tiny caravans have existed since ancient times, with a single bed or couch / bed combo inside. . Structures that are much more comfortable than the tent, but which have minimal influence on the driving dynamics and driveability of the car, are nowadays renaissance, but just when we thought that it was no longer possible to show something new in the genre, BMW's special study appeared.
As with the 2008 Gina study, the Futurelight caravan study, which was dreamed up by BMW Designworks, is a stretched, stretched text material that forms the body of the vehicle. There is no door, or we assume that the cabin can be locked with a tarpaulin like the tents. Inside, we have two single beds instead of a double bed, so the interior is a living room and a bedroom, and even a table can be reached.
What makes the construction special from a technological point of view is not so much the frame structure as the fabric itself, which is covered with nanomillary holes, so it is also ventilated with perfect water resistance.
Futurelight will be launched this year - unfortunately, not the caravan itself, only the special linen material developed by the North Face hiking clothes brand and brought into the project.
