Cross a vans with a bloody SUV, equip it with spectacular and functional accessories, and the world’s smallest apocalypse vehicle is ready.
In terms of Suzuki's international activities, Hungary is of great importance, but in fact it does not even approach the brand's activity in India: Maruti Suzuki produces roughly ten times as many cars a year as Esztergom - of course, the market is much larger. Anyway, the point is that the hottest Suzuki of all time was born in India, an off-road van scaled to a zombie apocalypse.
The foundations were provided by the Suzuki Omni: a tiny van with a body of 3.37 meters long and 1.41 meters wide that can accommodate four people and some packages. With a curb weight of just 785 kilograms, the 800 cc (0.8 liter), in-line three-cylinder engine with 38 horsepower and 62 Nm of torque can propel a vehicle with a wheelbase of 1.84 meters, although top speeds of 100 km / h are not really significant. .
The editors of an Indian car show, Holy Shift, escaped such an Omni from the demolition to completely transform it. The dead resource was replaced by a second-generation Suzuki Jimny (SJ40, 1981-2005) one-liter engine. The vehicle was given massive bridges, a raised chassis and huge wheels, and then body modifications could come.
The rear side windows were walled in, an outer roll-over frame was built into the car. At the rear, a retractable tray for transporting a (light) motorcycle, marble cans on the side, a roof rack at the top and additional lights at the front were attached. The image is completed by a robust front belly armor and a unique bumper.
The creators of the car didn’t mess around with naming much: they washed away the donor’s model name. Gypsy (as Jimny is called in India) and Omni released Gimny in this way, which is completely acceptable, as is the car itself.
