It will rebuild its legendary resource for Mazda, but not as we would expect: the Japanese brand will build its first electric car into its first electric car.
With the 2012 RX-8 coupe, Mazda beckoned to the Wankel engine. The return of technology has long been rumored, and the factory itself has made various studies, but now it turned out that it was right for those who imagined the planetary piston resource as an onboard generator.
Mazda announced in Tokyo that it will launch its first electric vehicle in 2020 already. The car, which is not specified in detail, is available in two versions: purely battery-powered or with an on-board generator - just like the BMW i3. Another advantage of this technology is that the Wankel power generator will be able to serve external customers as well, so it can provide electricity for a home in case of a power failure in areas affected by a disaster or for any other reason.
