The project of the Slovak hybrid aircraft has reached an important milestone, as the vehicle has received an air safety certificate from the Slovak aviation authorities, so its series production can be started soon.
It took 70 hours of test flight and 200 successful takeoffs and landings to obtain the certificate. Slovakia's hybrid aircraft, AirCar, drew attention to itself last summer as it traveled 35 minutes between Nitra and Bratislava airports.
The vehicle is equipped with a BMW engine, runs on petrol, can switch to flying mode in a tight two-and-a-half minutes, and can travel at speeds of 160 km / h and 2,500 meters in the air.
A pilot's license is required for driving, and a runway designed for small aircraft is sufficient for take-off and landing. Slovak engineers are planning their next, significantly longer test flight on the Paris-London route. It is not yet known when the special vehicle will be available.
