The Bentley plant has installed a 20-cubic-meter rainwater collection system that can reduce the plant’s tap water consumption by up to 1,800 liters per day.
Today, a tenth of the water needed to produce an average Bentley than in 2000, which is nice, but leaves room for further development. In the spirit of this, a 20,000-liter rainwater collection system has been put into operation at the Crewe plant, which is expected to provide a continuous supply for production in the light of British weather conditions. It is planned that they will be able to remove 1.8 cubic meters of water a day from the system - provided it will rain fairly.
Different analyzes give very different figures for the water demand of car manufacturing. The amount of water needed to produce a single car can be estimated at 2.5-5 cubic meters.
In 2019, Bentley produced more than 12,430 cars than ever before; this means 34 cars a day, which means that the plant uses 85 cubic meters of water a day, according to optimistic calculations.
