A Euro 5 restriction was announced, but the Italian government changed its mind

It was planned that, from September 15 of this year, Euro 5 blocks would have been created in the big cities, which would have meant that such zones could not even be approached by diesel fuel cars unless they live or work in the given area .

Although this would not have been applied to all cities, only to the larger ones, this would have been a measure affecting nearly 150,000 motorists. Of course, they would have done all this for reasons of environmental protection, but those motorists who drive cars of the Euro 5 standard would certainly not have been able to replace their vehicle with a more environmentally friendly version. At least most of them didn't, because the government would have only given the people concerned weeks, during which they would have introduced a measure equivalent to the impossible.

In addition to the question of going to work, there was also the question of what would happen to the cars that became unusable after the introduction?

The government was also forced to realize that this was an unenforceable request from them, so from October 1, 2024, they will implement the Euro 5 ban in cities with more than 300,000 inhabitants. In cities with adequate public transport infrastructure, this will probably not cause such a disruption and there is still time for the residents to digest it all.
