The popularity of electric cars in Hungary has continued to grow: 54 percent of Hungarians would prefer to buy an electric or hybrid car, and three times as many people are interested in alternative drives than four years ago, announced Robert Bosch Kft.
On behalf of the company, the Median Public Opinion and Market Research Institute conducted a representative survey, which revealed that 27 percent of the respondents would buy a purely electric car, the same number would buy a hybrid and plug-in-hybrid car, and 26 percent would buy a gasoline one. Diesel is the least popular with 9 percent, the decrease is 50 percent compared to 2018, they wrote.
The interviewees consider predictability, comfort, low maintenance costs and environmental protection to be the most important aspects of transportation. The latter is the most important argument in favor of the electric drive, cited by 72 percent, ahead of cheaper maintenance and quiet operation, the announcement indicated.
At the same time, they noted that the share of alternative drive cars in Hungary is still only 5 percent, and this includes gas-powered cars. The proportion of gasoline vehicles decreased by 19 percentage points, currently at 63 percent, but the proportion of diesel vehicles increased by almost the same amount, by 15 percentage points, reaching 32 percent. Based on these, Bosch believes that traditional motors will not lose their importance yet, but the rise of electric transport is obvious, so it may soon play a decisive role - read the announcement.
The survey, commissioned by Bosch, was conducted by interviewing a thousand adults by telephone. The sampling is representative in terms of gender, age, education and place of residence.
