According to Netrisk.hu, travel insurance premiums barely increased in the summer

According to their analysis sent to MTI on Wednesday, the average daily wage in the summer is about HUF 100 less than in other parts of the year, as the proportion of car trips within Europe increases at this time, and their provision does not include many covers (airplane reimbursements, winter sports accidents) from the outset.

It was announced: the insurance companies will gradually implement the rising foreign claim payment amounts in their premiums, which is also accompanied by an increase in the reimbursement limits for the given services. Anett Cseh, head of product development at Netrisk.hu, said in the announcement: all of this may cause average premiums to rise by a few percent for the rest of the year, but a significant jump in premiums should still not be expected due to strong market competition.

According to the analysis, it is worth paying attention to two unique factors in this summer season. One is the case of frequent flight cancellations. In general, services related to flight delays and cancellations are reimbursed in the event of a delay of at least 6 hours, and cover the costs of essential consumer goods (food, drinks) and services (accommodation, transportation) incurred as a result, up to the specified amount. There are also methods in which flights involving Hungary (arriving there or departing from there) are excluded from the scope of compensation, or lower limits are established for them. When taking out travel insurance, it is important to find out in advance whether it includes services related to flight delays or cancellations, and if so, up to what limit.

The other is the epidemic situation, as the number of infected people is increasing in many European countries. The conditions under which they reimburse for damages related to the coronavirus and the exact services they provide vary greatly from insurance to insurance.

There are insurance companies that tie the compensation of damages to a certificate of protection, and it may happen that some covers only apply to vaccinated people. Therefore, it is advisable to carefully compare the options from this point of view as well - they wrote.
Since the majority take out travel insurance at the last minute, it should not be overlooked that, on the one hand, the insurance coverage only applies to the remainder of the given day, and on the other hand, you must still be in Hungary at the time of signing the contract.
