According to ACEA's report, in April, 1,303 million new cars were placed in the European Union, 0.4 percent less than in April 2018.
The decline has been around for the eighth month since last September, when it was 23.5 percent down on an annual basis. In October, the annual decrease was 7.3 percent, 8.0 percent in November, and 8.4 percent in December. In January, the number of cars put into circulation was 4.6 percent, 1.0 percent lower in February and 3.9 percent in March than a year earlier.
A year ago, in April 2018, market penetration rose by 9.9 percent compared to April 2017.
In April, the largest markets fell by 1.1 per cent in Germany, and sales fell by 4.1 per cent in Great Britain. In Spain, however, an increase of 2.6 percent was recorded, 1.5 percent in Italy and 0.4 percent in France.
