An environmental inspection will be held on the roads during the week

The environmental protection status of hundreds of cars will be checked at thirty locations from today to Friday in Budapest and three county seats, the Ministry of Technology and Industry announced on its Facebook page on Monday.

According to the post, as part of the road traffic environmental protection action, the government offices carry out diversionary road inspections three times a day in the capital, and one each in Debrecen, Győr and Szeged.

Gasoline vehicles are tested with a gas analyzer, and diesel vehicles with a smoke detector, using technologies also used at technical inspection stations. This year, the instrument park will be expanded with a device suitable for particle number measurement - they wrote. Professionals can mainly detect leaks, signs of damage to the environment or even signs of irregular modification with a visual inspection.

In the promotion supported by the ministry, drivers can learn about the condition of their cars and find out about possible problems. Cars that are in flagrantly bad condition and highly polluting must be taken for periodic technical and environmental protection inspections within two months, they said.

They added: the road transport environmental protection campaign, which dates back a quarter of a century, is a permanent accompanying program of the European Mobility Week in Hungary.
