The development of the bicycle lane on the Grand Boulevard continues - after Teréz, Erzsébet and József körút, it will be safer to cycle on Ferenc körút in the future. With the extension of the boulevard lane, the Buda embankment cycle path will be directly accessible from the Grand Boulevard.
According to the original plans, the number of lanes provided for cars on Ferenc Boulevard will not decrease. An important goal is to maintain the 2 × 2 lane, because the traffic on the Grand Boulevard is the highest on Ferenc Boulevard and Szent István Boulevard.
Some of the current car parks may remain, and a new car park will be established in the nearby Közraktár Street to replace the terminated parking spaces.
A temporary bicycle lane was established on Nagykörút at the end of April on the three-kilometer section between Üllői út and Váci út. The traffic on the Grand Boulevard bike lane reached the Museum Boulevard bike lane, which had existed for more than a decade, in just a few days.
According to the latest data, they ride it at least four thousand times a day, making the Grand Boulevard one of the busiest cycling routes in Budapest, says BKK.
