CNG Octavia, which runs on natural gas, emits 25 percent less carbon dioxide than a gasoline plant.
The Škoda Octavia G-TEC, the Czech brand's latest CNG (compressed natural gas) type, can cover up to 500 kilometers by refilling its natural gas tanks once. The three tanks can receive 17.33 kg of natural gas.
The 130-horsepower, 1.5-liter TSI engine has been tuned for a fuel-efficient Miller cycle, consuming 3.6 kg of gas or 4.6 liters of petrol per 100 kilometers. Because Škoda is forcing the CNG plant, the petrol tank is only 9 liters - optimally 200 kilometers is enough, so the car has a total range of 700 km. If there is natural gas in the tank, the car will take fuel from there, except when starting after refueling or at temperatures below minus 10 ° C. Due to the space requirements of the gas tanks, the boot capacity is greatly reduced: the five-door model has 455 liters and the station wagon 495 liters.
