The Volkswagen ID.3 will soon receive a little brother. The two models are based on a common, modular floorboard.
The e-Up city car has only been around for a few years, and is expected to be replaced by a modern floorboard model: the ID.1 will be replaced by Volkswagen.
The novelty may hit the market in the middle of the decade; it will cite ID.3 in its appearance, but its price will not: Volkswagen wants to start the car for less than 20 thousand euros (7 million HUF).
According to the news, Volkswagen is approaching the issue of cost reduction from two directions: on the one hand, the ID.1 will be “dumber” than its brother, and on the other hand, its battery will be smaller. They are talking about 24 and 36 kWh capacity, which promises a range of 200-300 kilometers, at least at the current level of technology. There will also be ID.2, by the way, in the size of the Polo, the Peugeot e-208 and the Renault Zoe segment.
