Electric cars with a new type-approval number can only be marketed as of July 1 with a sound-emitting device as a result of an EU regulation.
From 1 July 2019, hybrid and electric cars with a new EC type-approval number can only be placed on the market in the Member States of the European Union if they are equipped with a sound generator.
Vehicles have to emit white noise up to 20 km / h in order to make it easier for pedestrians, especially the poor and blind and cyclists to see them. The European Parliament adopted and issued a regulation on this issue in the spring of 2014, which regulates the marketing of the cars concerned - EC notes.
The July deadline, which is due in a few days, concerns hybrid and purely electric vehicles with a new type, ie new EC type approval number.
The purpose of the regulation is to make transport vehicles safer for transport and thereby increase their acceptance. The measure also contributes to making electric cars more popular, allowing them to gain a new boost in their distribution.
