The management of General Motors is supposed to seriously consider bringing the infamous mega off-road vehicle back into emission-free design.
There are confidential discussions at General Motors Headquarters about which vehicles to build the fleet of the company group. An employee who did not want to name himself informed the Automotive News magazine that the idea of an electric Hummer was also an opportunity.
GM is currently working on two large-scale electric car programs. The BEV3 project aims to develop cars, leisure vehicles and other small and medium-sized cars, contributing to the Group's goal of offering twenty electric cars to its customers by 2023. In another program, they are working on the development of commercial vehicles and off-road vehicles - the latter will have little impact on Europe, but there are plenty of candidates in America, from the Cadillac Escalade luxury off-road vehicle to the Chevrolet Silverado pickup family. In the latter, they can find a place for the Hummer if they want - or if the customers want it.
Of course, when we talk about electric hummer, do not imagine the original giant: General Motors would need something to get into the market gap where Jeep Wrangler is now at ease. The future Hummer is therefore more compact, manageable and must be more environmentally friendly than the original one.
At the beginning of the year, GM negotiated with Rivian Automotive, a company that developed electric vehicles, but that cooperation did not come about - Rivian signed a manufacturing contract with Ford.
