Electric Lexus crossover

The Toyota Group launched its purely electric vehicle project quite late. Currently, with the exception of the Lexus UX300e and Toyota Mirai, there is no model in the group's range that can drive completely emission-free - the latter's usability is unfortunately made theoretical by a toothless hydrogen filling infrastructure for the time being.

There is, of course, the second wave in the finish line: the Toyota bZ4X and Lexus LF-Z studies are leading to high-capacity, modern electric recreational vehicles. The company planned to mass-produce the former by mid-2022, but there has been no talk of Lexus being launched.

Recently, however, the ice has been broken: Lexus has officially confirmed that it will introduce its second series-produced electric model as early as next summer. It has not been mentioned that this is a recreational vehicle, but nowadays a car manufacturer that does not try to expand its offer with a crossover takes an unnecessary risk. By the way, the LF-Z isn’t the only study car waiting to be mass-produced in Lexus ’portfolio, as the LF-1 Limitless is also there - of course, it’s also a recreational vehicle.

Either way, something is coming, and if it’s the LF-Z, we need to prepare for an imposing novelty. The model’s 2950mm wheelbase is 160 millimeters longer than the Lexus RX high-end RV, while its overall length (4880mm) is 10mm shorter. The 90 kWh battery offers a remarkable range of 600 kilometers, while the 544-horsepower 700 Nm powertrain accelerates the genre’s 2.1-tonne lightweight vehicle to 100 km / h in 3.0 seconds.
