Every year, 1.2 billion plastic bottles have been saved from the landfill and recycled by Ford worldwide.
Twenty years ago, the project started, and today Ford recycles 38 (ie 1.2 billion per year) plastic bottles to make seat upholstery and carpeting.
In Europe, Ford EcoSport takes the lead in this area: since the launch of the small crossover production in 2012, 8262 tons (650 million pieces) of plastic bottles and caps have been mined, melted, then pulled and twisted into a textile industry, thus relieving the environment.
There are 470 bottles for each EcoSport: the amount of fabric used for carpets in the front and back seats.
This is not the only ecologically responsible component of EcoSport: from the beginning of last year, a recycled backpack is placed in the car.
