According to investigators, a German prosecutor did not issue more documents about the matter.
Another unclear chapter in the investigation into the diesel case came: the French investigating judges requested three official documents from the Braunschweig prosecutor, but none of the applications was successful - the Portfolio writes. The Paris prosecutor has launched two court investigations in 2016 and 2017, following the explosion of the diesel blast.
Germany did not refuse to deny the issuance of documents, but the rejection was explained by the fact that communication on the elements of the investigation would seriously undermine the progress of their work.
According to Emmanuel Ludot, a lawyer representing the French civil lawsuit, this argument is unacceptable. In his view, with this move, Berlin is simply trying to keep an "explosive" case under control, the consequences of which can be catastrophic for Germany.
The US Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) announced in September 2015 that Volkswagen has manipulated its engines to get the better results on emissions tests. When fraud became apparent, the case around the globe was a big deal.
In France, an expert report on exploration of diesel is expected in autumn. The car manufacturer accredited the German justice system in June and committed itself to paying the fine of EUR 1 billion.
