Ford Focus continues its career with fresh design features, an expanded model range, redesigned powertrains and next-generation technologies.
For the first time, Ford Focus is offering a collision-avoiding blind spot assistant for the first time, and for the first time, customers can choose the compact Ford automatic transmission mild hybrid powertrain. The largest 13.2-inch touchscreen in the category is also worth mentioning: this is just three of the improvements that the manufacturer will introduce in its new model year on its lower-middle-class type.
As far as design is concerned, the bonnet has been redrawn and the Ford logo has been relocated - a solution we've seen on the recently revamped Fiesta. The LED headlight is now standard. It also serves as a fog lamp, making the car look cleaner. The luminaires are also LED on the back, which has been given a darkened bulb and a new internal structure. The design of the grille and nose will be different on each trim level.
The novelty of the driveline range is that a 48 V mild hybrid powerplant is now available with a seven-speed dual-clutch transmission. The special transmission shifts up to three gears at a time for sporty use, engages later or can be changed manually - with ST-Line handlebars mounted for this purpose. The 1.0-liter mild hybrid powertrain is available in 125 and 155 hp versions. In addition, conventional petrol engines are available, also with a displacement of one liter and 100 and 125 horsepower. Again, the 1.5-liter diesel is only available in two power levels, the 95-horsepower only with manual transmission and the 120-horsepower with up to eight-speed automatic.
