In order to filter out rule breakers more effectively, the police in Baranya will now regularly check people driving on public roads with a drone capable of recording videos, the county police headquarters announced on the police.hu website on Friday.

According to their information, as part of the now regular traffic control, in the middle of the week in Pécs, the police focused on motorists driving through the prohibited sign with the help of a drone, and imposed administrative fines of HUF 50,000 on each of the fourteen offenders caught in the act. In addition to fines, the drivers were also hit with eight penalty points, and in three cases, the uniformed officers initiated administrative proceedings against the violators.

It was announced: motion pictures of detected traffic situations and violations of the rules were recorded by the drone from a distance with the camera mounted on it, and based on these, the traffic police took action against the violators immediately near the scene of the crime.

According to the information, the police are planning additional traffic checks of a similar nature throughout the county in order to prevent road traffic accidents and to filter out drivers who ignore the rules and cause dangerous situations with their behavior.
