The OMV Group would launch discount stations in some of Austria's neighboring countries, including Hungary.
The Austrian oil company would expand in southern Germany and Slovenia and expand domestically, mainly in areas where it could supply the units with its own fuel. In the case of Hungary, there is a greater expansion in Transdanubia, closer to OMV's Schwechat oil refinery, according to the daily newspaper.
The discount units operate without employees and shops, so they offer cost and time efficient refueling. OMV has about 220 wells in Austria. OMV's Avanti filling stations, as well as the 100% OMV subsidiary's FE-Trading service stations, are on a discount system, and Petrom branded wells are also available at discounted rates.
If OMV pursues its Austrian practice in Hungary, the 21 Avanti filling stations on OMV's name could be discounted, as well as expanding cooperation with Aldi last year. Aldi's units in Budaörs, Szigetszentmiklós and Sopron - all self-service and without a shop - sell two OMV products at a discount, Világgazdaság recalls.
Developments related to the discount concept are carried out independently of the Hungarian retailer, organized by the Austrian parent company - informed OMV Hungaria Kft.
OMV operates approximately 2,000 filling stations in ten countries, and currently has 197 petrol stations in Hungary.
