Starting in January, a pass system will be introduced in Hévíz's paid parking lots, thanks to which visitors can also park their cars at a discount, the city's mayor announced at a press conference on Tuesday.
Gábor Papp (Fidesz-KDNP) said in relation to the new parking ordinance adopted by the local government that day and coming into effect in January: there are currently around eight hundred paid parking spaces in the city. The local government has always strived - he continued - to make the parking system acceptable to both local residents and visitors, which is why they decided to create a new pass system.
Next year, local residents, as well as those who go to work in Hévíz - the number of the latter is three to four thousand per day - can buy a discounted annual pass, and anyone else can buy a year-round pass without a discount. In the large parking lot of the city center, parking permits can now be exchanged for quarterly periods, and it is also new that those coming to Hévíz to relax will be able to buy a three- or seven-day pass - the mayor listed.
He also indicated that starting in January, anyone can park for free in the large parking lot not only for fifteen minutes, but for up to half an hour, and free spaces can also be searched using a phone application.
Gábor Papp also said that, based on the saturation tests and the needs, it is necessary to have roughly twice as many parking spaces in Hévíz instead of the current eight hundred. They are also planning the expansion, for which they are also hoping for tender funds, because the creation of a single new parking space costs about HUF 2.5 million.
The mayor also reported that the construction of the new bicycle path being built in Vörösmarty Street, as well as the associated rainwater drainage and water connections, was not completed by the deadline. Due to the delay of the HUF 163 million investment, the contractor can already expect to pay a penalty of HUF 24 million, but the work is expected to be completed within three weeks.
In addition, the city will complete the asphalting of the gate stops with its own resources, but submitted a claim for about HUF 250 million to reasphalt the entire street and its sidewalk, he added.
Deputy Mayor József János Kepli (Fidesz-KDNP) said about the delay of the HUF 600 million investment affecting the area of the old bus station that the works being carried out as a health resort development project are delayed for several reasons. The most significant thing is that the building itself is not technically suitable for the creation of a new function, so an additional request of HUF 220 million is being submitted, so the complete renovation of Kölcsey Street and the rehabilitation of the surrounding areas would be completely completed by next May according to the new plans, he explained.
