As a key member of the Volkswagen Group's global production network, Audi Hungaria provides a number of services for the group's various brands. As a next step, the vehicle manufacturing product portfolio will be expanded with a new model from another kosher brand in the future: Audi Hungaria will start production of an SUV model of the CUPRA brand from 2024, preparations for which have already begun at the company.
"With its wide product portfolio and comprehensive service offering, Audi Hungaria is becoming a reliable partner of Volkswagen Group companies in more and more areas. We rely on the synergies inherent in the concern in order to make the capacity utilization of our vehicle factory more efficient with the production of the CUPRA. This is proven practice for us, as our engines bring many Audi, Volkswagen, Skoda, SEAT, CUPRA, Bentley and Lamborghini models to life, while our tool factory produces body parts for exclusive models of the Volkswagen and Audi Group. In addition to our products, the competence-based services that we provide to the group's companies worldwide are becoming increasingly important. The future production of the new CUPRA SUV model contributes to strengthening our international position as well as the future capability and flexibility of our vehicle production, thus ensuring the long-term employment of our employees", said Alfons Dintner, chairman of the board of Audi Hungaria.
Audi Hungaria currently manufactures the Audi Q3, Q3 Sportback and the mild hybrid and plug-in hybrid versions of these models. The Audi TT Coupé and TT Roadster models are also produced in Győr.
"A competent team is working to implement the project by the set deadline. Planning has already begun, we will integrate the new CUPRA model into our existing production structure by exploiting the synergies between products and technologies. The preparations affect our body shop to the greatest extent. The first "Made in Győr" CUPRA will roll off our production lines in 2024. My excellently trained team and I are already happy with the production of the new CUPRA SUV model", said Zoltán Les, member of the board responsible for vehicle production at Audi Hungaria.
The new CUPRA SUV model will be produced in Győr with different engines, including mild hybrid and plug-in hybrid technology. The PHEV version represents the next generation of plug-in hybrid technology, which enables a pure electric range of around 100 kilometers.
