So far, only one type has been called Ioniq, but soon the Hyundai electric sub-brand will be named.
The Hyundai Ioniq is the company’s first specifically hybrid, plug-in hybrid and fully electric car, but the name will soon mean much more than that. This will be Hyundai’s new sub-brand, which offers exclusively electric cars, with three new models over the next four years. By the way, the brand name was formed from the words ion and unique .
The Ioniq 5 will be unveiled in the first half of 2021, based on the 45 Concept electric study car unveiled at the 2019 Frankfurt Motor Show. Next year, a series version of the Prophecy sports sedan will arrive under the name Ioniq 6, followed by a large, also electric leisure car bearing the type name 7.
A common feature of Ioniq models will be that their designs will be inspired by designers from past models and will build on the E-GMP platform. Future models will also be made for this modular floorboard, which will be marked with numbers.
They promise fast charging, great range and wireless smart device connectivity, as well as practical indoor solutions such as a drawer-like glove compartment.
