The domestic turnover of used cars increased in October compared to the previous month, but decreased year-on-year, JóAutók.hu told MTI on Monday.
Last month, 69,200 cars changed hands, after September's 67,515, but on an annual level, the turnover was 2 percent below the annual base of 70,400 cars - the used car trading portal quotes data from Datahouse in its announcement.
In the first ten months, compared to the same period of the previous year, the turnover of used cars increased by 3.1 percent to 703,700, while the number of imported used cars fell by 1 percent to 108,900 in the same period, they wrote.
According to JóAutók.hu's estimate, the domestic used car market - thanks to the strong first half of the year - may set a new record with a value of over 830,000 units this year, after last year's 817,300 units.
In the announcement, attention is drawn to the fact that customer interest fell in the second half of the year due to the deteriorating economic situation and rising utility costs, and no change is expected until the spring of 2023.
The number of domestic used car sales is currently kept at a relatively high level by the fact that some of the interested parties have moved from the new car market, which is suffering a major downturn, to the used car market, and due to the unfavorable exchange rate, many people have given up on importing their next car - he quoted the announcement addresses Bertalan Halász, CEO of JóAutók.hu.
