In Japan this year, cameras and tiny screens replace the exterior rearview mirrors on Lexus's latest sedan.
The function that has been used in studio cars since time immemorial is the camcorder's rear-facing mirror, but it has not been possible to make serial production for legal and safety reasons.
In Japan, however, since October, Lexus ES, the brand's newest front-wheel drive car, is exactly the same.
The advantage of the technology offered by the Audi e-tron on board is that the picture displayed on small 5-inch monitors at the base of the A-poles can be varied: when the direction indicator is activated or reverse, the angle of view changes, open. This allows for blind-free traffic.
Another advantage of this technology is that it does not hinder the view in the rain or snow, the camera does not get wet and does not freeze. By replacing the large outside mirrors, wind noise and air resistance diminish, something improves the sight.
There is no news for the introduction of technology on the export market.
