The next generation of the new generation Lexus IS sedan will be available again in sports. The question is what engine will drive.
Referring to internal sources, the Japanese Response magazine claims that Lexus IS can return to 2022. to dilute demand with a third model with the same performance.
Now we can expect changes. The GS sedan, which has so far been sold worldwide, will now only be available in America and Japan, its global successor, but the ES will be the first wheel drive. If Lexus insists on having a rear-wheel drive sports sedan, then it is hardly a choice.
At the same time, it should be noted that the 5.0-liter V8 suction engine has no future on the market for emission reasons. For the time being, the Lexus has not yet been replaced: the idea of a 600-horsepower, 4.0-liter, eight-cylinder turbo engine has emerged, but if at all, it would be too much for the IS sedan. Response knows that the LC Coupe's 3.5-liter V6 resource could be the solution for Lexus, though the 417 hp peak performance would put the car in a competitive disadvantage (Audi RS4 / 450 LE; BMW M3 / 431 LE; Mercedes AMG C 63/476 HP).
At the same time, we would not exclude the introduction of a petrol-electric hybrid sports chain: the idea of this has already arisen in the case of a possible UX F.
