There is a need to tighten up the proprietary models of plug-in hybrid technology, which combines the use of explosive and network-powered electric motors, with the amendment of the law on green license plates.
The Hungarian Times refers to the proposals of the Hungarian Electromobility Association, according to which the legislator could adjust the supposed and real anomalies arising from the technology-based regulation and place the provision on a new basis. Due to the current regulation, which only specifies that a green license plate car should be able to travel 25 kilometers only in electric mode, the owners of up to 300-400 hp petrol or diesel engines may also be the owners of the hybrid vehicles. indirect subsidies, ie green license plates.
According to their proposal, only plug-in hybrids could have a green license number, which are less polluting than the new WLTP method - in actual traffic. (What that measure is not yet clear.) In the new regulation, instead of the technological approach - that is, there is an electric drive in the car - would primarily consider environmental and emission considerations. All this does not mean that there is a problem with the technology, so it is by no means appropriate to take the green license plate from all the plug-in hybrids on the basis of a lawn mower.
According to János Ungár, president of the Hungarian Electromobility Association, the regulation of emissions would also justify the introduction of a differentiated aid policy. Such a system of conditions, according to the expert, could provide a great boost to the development of electromobility in Hungary. It is also considered that the aid scheme should also apply to lorries and motorcycles.
