Last year, dealers put 5,516 new Mercedes cars on the market in Hungary, of which 16-17 percent were vehicles manufactured in Kecskemét. Sales increased by 1 percent compared to 2021. With this, the brand continues to lead the premium segment in Hungary, in which its share reaches 30 percent.
Sales director Tamás Hesz said: the proportion of diesel vehicles in the brand's sales is traditionally high, reaching 37 percent. Last year, the share of electric cars reached 8 percent, that of plug-in hybrid models 22 percent, and with the 30 percent share of green vehicles, the brand performed outstandingly not only in the premium segment, but also in the entire market, he noted.
According to his information, the product offensive will continue this year, the brand will appear not only with updated versions, but also with new types during the year. Much is expected of electric and plug-in hybrid models, and their sales may increase slightly this year as well.
Mercedes sold 1,458 commercial vehicles in Hungary last year, the increase in this segment was 46 percent compared to the previous year. 11.8 percent of sales were purely electric vehicles, this proportion is also above average at the European level - it was said.
785 trucks were sold last year, an increase of more than 30 percent.
In the commercial vehicle segment, part of the manufacturer's strategy in the next period is to increase the range of premium commercial vehicles in addition to the green transition.
