After problems with the construction and equipment of the Tesla Gigafactory in Berlin, Tesla was unable to keep its original plans to start marketing the locally manufactured Model Y in Europe this summer. It appears that Berlin will not be able to start production until around October, but so that customers will not wait in vain, Tesla will temporarily serve Europe from the Gigafactory in Shanghai, Electrec writes.
Tesla’s Chinese plant is operating as planned and 8,000 cars have already been exported in July, most of them expected to Europe. These vehicles have been appearing on the roads of Germany, Norway and the Netherlands for a few weeks now, but the official announcement has so far had to wait.
The Model Y is the little brother of the Model X, a mid-range recreational vehicle. It features two electric motors, a range of more than 500 kilometers, and a trunk of up to 2 cubic meters. The passenger compartment is optionally for seven people, the car accelerates to 100 km / h in 3.7 seconds and is pre-prepared for full autonomous traffic.
