According to Japanese reporters, the new generation of Lexus IS can be built on the LS modified floor plate, which can be large enough to keep it compact.
So far, we have thought Lexus ES represents the new wave in the brand's palette, but if we believe in news from Japan, the new generation of IS will be at least as revolutionary - or, say, modern-looking - model as its big brother.
The Toyota Group's luxury brand has also moved to the floorboards based on the TNGA cabinet, but only one: the GA-L offers a rear wheel drive. This means that the next IS series coming to around 2020 will have to build on that, that is, the LC luxuskupé and the LS flagship (opening image) will be a distant relative.
Japanese plates also consider the planned dimensions: the wheelbase would be the same as the LC coupe (287 cm), which is no less than 7 centis higher than the current one. At the same time, the length would only increase by 5 cents (473 cm), changes in latitude and altitude remain within half a cent. If the Mag-X magazine's information is accurate, the IS and ES will rest on the same wheelbase - which, of course, does not mean anything because it is longer than 5 centimeters longer and will be 2 times higher, so it offers a more spacious, more spacious interior.
