The government initiated a new semi-ring to relieve international freight traffic more efficiently, by relieving sections of the M1, M0 and M5 motorways around the capital.
The bypass would also allow postponement of its M1 expansion, said the Hungarian State Secretary of the Ministry of Innovation and Technology (ITM).
In the article published in the Monday issue of the paper, László Mosóczi reports that a feasibility study is being carried out on two of the two tracks of the 13th and 81th highway, which runs from Komárom to Komárom, as well as the 63 main road south of Székesfehérvár. bypass expressway between the M1 and the M8 under construction. László Mosóczi also announced that the government had already decided on development.
Hungary is affected by several international transport corridors, with the largest transit traffic between Germany and the Balkans and Turkey. Transit traffic is not meant to approach the Hungarian capital, a north-west-south-eastern diagonal route would serve their purpose better, while Budapest and agglomeration roads would get breathable, ”László Mosóczi explained.
According to the Secretary of State, the improvements needed, since it is an extension of the existing road, can be realized at a relatively lower cost and faster, so they can catch up with the M8 investment that is on a new path.
If a semi-circle of about 100 kilometers away from the capital is completed, it will have significant consequences for Budapest's suburban traffic, and if international transit does not burden the roads around Budapest, it will not be necessary or only later will the M1 be expanded.
