The police are about to measure the average speed of motorists, which is a fairer basis for speeding the fines in the current system. With the introduction of a miracle weapon, you can even redefine fines of up to 30 to 300,000 forints, and allow for a cut in the speed of the traffic. Unfortunately, the ORFK is secretive about the details.
"My colleagues are working on the development of a system that will allow this method to be applied, if the legal conditions are met," said Zsolt Halmosi, deputy police chief captain for Inforádió, this week for the average speed measurement.
The average speed measurement called west section control has long been used by the police of many countries. Its essence is that each of the distance speeds placed at a certain distance will measure the pace of the vehicles in front of them, averaging the recorded numbers. Those who measure the average speed above the permissible limits for the given road section are fined. It is easy to see that this method is fairer than the one-on-one speed penalty system.
Plus, it looks good everywhere they've been introduced. According to the analysis, the introduction of the system may reduce the speed on the given stretch by an average of 10 percent on average, while accidents and deaths may fall by 20 to 50 percent.
