The automotive supplier has been fined for its role in the diesel scandal.
The State Prosecutor's Office in Stuttgart, with a fine of EUR 90 million, closed the proceedings against Bosch's automotive supplier for the role of the Volkswagen Group in its diesel scandal.
The fine imposed consists of a fine of EUR 2 million and a drawback of EUR 88 million in unlawful profits.
As a supplier of diesel engine controls, Bosch has been involved in Volkswagen's diesel scandal. Diesel engine emission values were manipulated by the engine management software of the car manufacturer.
According to his spokesman, Bosch does not intend to use legal instruments against the decision of the prosecutor's office, so the proceedings against him have ended.
In the decision of the prosecutor's office it was assumed that the initiative to manipulate the emission values of diesel engines started from the car manufacturer and not from the supplier of the control equipment. The prosecutor's decision can thus exempt Boscht from paying for claims against car manufacturers for damages due to a diesel scandal.
The € 90 million fine imposed on Bosch is far behind the amount of more than € 2 billion imposed on Volkswagen and its affiliates.
