The Mirai fuel cell sedan drive chain, two robot arms and a conveyor pizza furnace: this makes the Toyota Tundra PIE Pro pick-up unique.
According to Honda, the pickup is good if we can hike with it, but Toyota thinks it has to be cooked. Or on it.
The brand's largest pickup, the Tundra, was unloaded with a 5.7-liter V8 petrol engine and was replaced with a Mirai fuel cell drive chain. So the odd pickup is driven by zero emissions, although its performance and load capacity are clearly below its original design.
However, this was not enough for the Toyota SEMA exhibition: a robotic fast food restaurant on the platform. When placing an order, a robot arm opens the refrigerator door, selects the type of pizza chosen and places it on the conveyor belt. On the other side of the oven the pizza is ready to be cooked by another robotic arm, cut into six slices and handed over to the buyer.
The whole process is supposed to last 6-7 minutes, and the best thing is that the whole robot kitchen is powered by the electric current developed in the hydrogen fuel cell.
