Volvo's new Polestar tuning package will be sent more torque on the rear axle. The solution works only for cars from the 2019 model year, unfortunately, backwards.
Polestar's sporty navy, Polestar, has been particularly active lately: after setting up a tuning package for the company's hybrid drive chain, it now handles conventional mechanical drives, albeit by electronic means.
Their new optimization software rewrites the torque distribution control program so more and more torque on the rear axle than by default. Better rideability, better steering and more dynamic start-up: these are the well-known benefits of rear wheel drive, and approaches Polestar's system without giving up all-wheel drive in poor adherence.
Tuning unfortunately does not work retroactively, it can only be ordered for the 90 and 60 series of petrol and diesel engines from August 2018 and the XC40. This feature is activated when the ESP is switched off or when Dynamic Mode is activated, and Polestar uses its standard tuning devices (better throttle reaction, tapered throttle, faster changes, modified switch points, increased engine power).
For plug-in hybrid models, there is no tuning, where an electric motor provides the rear wheel drive, and hybrid control divides the drive between the two axes arbitrarily.
